Comedians have a way of making us laugh and it is a gift that we certainly appreciate. More than likely, you have a favorite comedian and you may watch their acts over and over again. From time to time, however, a comedian breaks through and they are not only popular because of their standup routines, they end up on television and even in the movies. That is the case with Chris Farley.
Most people who are familiar with Chris Farley know that he played a large part on Saturday Night Live. He went from there to do a number of movies that were quite popular, especially among those who enjoy that type of comedy. What you may not realize, however, is that it was a single skit that really introduced Farley to the world. It also had someone else who was rather popular, Patrick Swayze.
For this skit, Farley stood alongside Patrick Swayze in front of a panel of “judges” in a skit that became known as the Chippendale sketch. The two men were competing for a place on the Chippendale staff and they danced alongside each other, amazing the judges but even more so, making all of us laugh out loud. The end result would be to see who would ultimately be a Chippendale dancer but it was more than something interesting to see, Chris Farley actually had some rather awesome moves for a man his size. It is amazing how a single sketch, such as this, could launch a career.
The unfortunate thing is, Chris Farley has passed away and even Patrick Swayze lost his life as a result of cancer. These two individuals are not here to make us laugh now but we can still laugh at these comedy skits that were done 25 years ago. It’s amazing how funny these two individuals were.
