Many of us have seen lions, if not in the wild, at least at a zoo. They are absolutely beautiful creatures that are not only majestic, they have a loveliness all of their own. Having the opportunity to see a lion up close and personal lets you know that they are more than a wild animal, they are an animal with a unique personality as well.
The lion in this video is located in the Johannesburg zoo in South Africa. His name is Triton and he has a talent that most people have never seen in a lion before. According to the zookeeper in charge of the section were Triton lives, there is a particular toy that he absolutely loves, and that is his soccer ball. In fact, when he tosses the soccer ball into the enclosure, you won’t believe what happens.
There is something else that you will notice about this particular animal; he is not your average lion. I’m not discussing his unusual talents with a soccer ball, I’m talking about the way that he looks. As far as big cats go, he is absolutely lovely and that is because he is a white lion, which is quite rare. That being said, the fact that he loves to play games is not out of the ordinary as far as big cats are concerned. Many of them love games from the time that they are very young, and they use them to imitate behaviors that they will use in the wild.
Although nobody has stepped up to challenge Triton and his soccer playing abilities, there is also nobody who is questioning them. The fact that he loves playing with a ball and does it so readily is absolutely fantastic to see. We can only hope that he continues to improve in his skills as he gets older.
