Many people have a high regard for individuals that serve in the military. There is no doubt that those individuals give up a lot in their service of the country, including their regular homes, their families and sometimes even their comfort. All the while, they are on call to go fight and defend at a moments notice. It’s what they sign up for.
It is true that veterans may get certain benefits that are not available to the general public. Those benefits could include small discounts or perks that are provided through various restaurants and stores. When you compare the small benefits that they receive in this regard in exchange with what they have given up to serve in the military, it really is no comparison at all.
That doesn’t mean, however, that everybody is able to look at the situation in the same way. In fact, there are some people who have a difficult time looking at veterans objectively and simply appreciating what they are doing on a day-to-day basis. That was the case when this veteran entered into a restaurant and stood at the counter to order a meal. He asked the question that may have been asked many times, whether they gave a military discount. He was likely expecting to receive a response to the question from the cashier but he wasn’t expecting the response he received from elsewhere.
A women behind him in line spoke up and gave her unsolicited opinion. She said that he was being rude asking for the discount and that he should not be entitled for any special privileges just because he was in the military. This likely shocked the young man at first but when you see what he does to this woman next, you will be amazed.
