A Father Is Standing Behind His Son. When The Little Boy Turns Around? I Bawled My Eyes Out!

We have seen our fair share of reunion videos in recent years. Some of them reunite an animal with their owners, at times after they have been apart for months or perhaps even years. Those that seem to touch us on a very personal level, however, is a military homecoming. It doesn’t matter if they are greeting their family, friends or even a beloved pet, it is something that tends to bring a tear to our eye very quickly.

Of course, when somebody has been away overseas for quite some time and they come home to greet their family, it is often a very special and sometimes personal moment. Recently, we have seen a lot of these reunions captured on video and it is something that we appreciate. When they take the time to do this, it gives all of us the opportunity to share in their joy and the special moment that they have together.

This reunion is rather unique, because we are getting two-for-one. It happened when technical Sgt. John Grieten returned from a tour of duty that lasted six months in Southwest Asia. The first video takes place as he is standing behind his son, Josh for a few minutes. Josh is working hard and quite focused on what he is doing. You will notice that Josh has Down syndrome, and the love that he shows to his father when he turned around is beyond measure. John then crawls in on his hands and knees to surprise his daughter in the dining hall.

These type of video show us exactly what family can mean to us. We are close when we are together but when we were apart, it really is true that absence makes the heart grow fonder. I’m sure that you will appreciate this video as much as I did.
