When you have the opportunity to interact with nature, you never quite know what you are going to run into. A diver recently discovered this when, back in 2014, he stopped to give a belly rub to a seal. The video that was taken instantly went viral, not only because it is incredibly adorable but because it shows us exactly what some animals are capable of doing.
It started when Gary Grayson was diving off of Great Britain Sicily Isles. When he was diving, he happened to come across an Atlantic gray seal and the encounter is one that is going to be remembered for his entire life. The seal didn’t stay away, as you would expect of a wild animal but rather, he swam right up to Gary and touched their noses together.
Fortunately, Gary was not nervous over the encounter and in fact, he was more curious than the seal. The two of them seemed to be getting along swimmingly but then the seal did something that was so unexpected, it took Gary by surprise. In fact, when you see it in this video, it is going to take you by surprise as well. The seal flipped over and wanted Gary to rub his belly. That’s right, it pulled the classic dog maneuver and went for the belly rub. Of course, this didn’t come as a surprise to everyone and the CEO of Seal Isle Rescue said that they often act like dogs and are quite curious.
Gary has done many incredible things in his life. He swam with sharks, dolphins and crocodiles but out of everything that he has done, the clip that is below is the most amazing thing that he remembers. It gave him the opportunity to get up close and personal with nature and we get to go along for the ride.
